The Ten Healthiest Foods

Bad diets and sever diseases are strongly connected. In order to avoid having cancer, ulcer, vascular disturbances, insomnia or milkleg, it is enough to eat some foods that should always be on a healthy daily diet. Mark Glen, a famous British dietitian, recommends the following ten healthiest foods:

Apples – an excellent source of pectin, fibers that reduces the level of cholesterol and sugar in the blood. Fresh apples contain a lot of vitamin C, which protects cells from destruction. It helps in the production of the collagen, substance that keeps the tissues and the blood vessels healthy, being absolutely necessary in the absorption process of iron and folic acid.

Almonds – rich in fibers, riboflavin, magnesium, iron and calcium ( a palm of almonds contains 100 mg of calcium). Besides, the same quantity gives you the necessary daily dose of vitamin E, preventing thus sterility and hair lose. Due to its mono-saturated fats, almonds reduce the level of cholesterol and keep us away from having a heart attack. They are the best sources of proteins, being indicated in the recovery from a disease.

Blueberries contain phytonutrients that prevent and heal urinary infections so frequently at women, especially in the cold period of the year. They improve short-term memory, and consumed for 10 days each summer, they will protect us from having Alzheimer at an old age. Because they are low in calories, they are indicated as base food in summer diets or in periods of food excess.

Broccoli is an important source of calcium, potassium and fibers and thus it protects us from chronic diseases, like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, different types of cancer, especially from colon and prostate cancer. Because it contains antioxidants as vitamin A and C, it prevents the early aging of cells.

Red bean, with big or small bobs, is a real source of iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper and thiamine. It has almost no vegetable fats, it has few calories, and due to its fibers, it normalizes digestion and the human body eliminates faster the toxins. It is recommended in constipation and sedentariness and for old people.

Ocean fish, especially salmon is one of the few foods that contain fat omega 3 acids, which protects the vessels from fat deposits, reducing the risk of having blood clots and heart attack. Omega 3 controls the heartbeats, protecting us from palpitations, heart hurry and even sudden death. You should eat fish at least three times a week in order to reduce the level of triglycerides (that affect the liver) and to normalize the blood pressure.

Spinach contains folate, a lot of vitamin A, C, B6, riboflavin, calcium, iron and magnesium. It strengthens the immune system and keeps hair and skin healthy. Prepare only the quantity you can eat, because during the reheating process, the nitrates transform into nitrites, which can cause cancer.

Potatoes. Their orange-yellowish color indicates a huge concentration of beta-carotene. The human body transforms it in vitamin A, and thus it slows down the aging process and reduces the risk of having certain types of cancer. They also contain vitamins as B6, C and E, potassium, fibers; one potato has 50 calories.

Fruit and vegetable juice. Fresh juice contains all the vitamins and mineral of the fruit or vegetable, being a real source of vitality. It must be consumed immediately after preparation; it is an easy way of assimilating multivitamins, especially for those who do not like vegetables. Tomato juice should be always present in any kind of fresh juice because it contains lycopene, a substance that protects us from heart attack and cancer, especially from prostate cancer.

Wheat germs. When the wheat bob sprouts, the germ appears right in the center of the bob, from where a new plant grows. Wheat germs contain nutrients as niacin, thiamine, vitamin E, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. You should take two spoons with wheat germs every day, because they will give you a boos of energy, appetite, and you will no longer suffer from insomnia.
