Many supplements also contain additives which are just used to fill the space up. Fillers such as salt or sugars may be used to fill up space in a capsule. Corn starch or molasses are binders. They are used so that they help to keep a tablet intact.
Supplements may be polluted with substances used during the manufacturing process. Magnesium stearate or hydrogenated oils and talc are many of the thousands of lubricants used. These are used so that nutrient mixtures won’t stick to machines.
While the nutritional knowledge is expanding all the time, so the learning never ends. Antioxidants are one group of vitamins and minerals that are extremely effective. Selenium, copper, zinc, manganese, magnesium and the vitamins E, C, and A are known as antioxidants. They have displayed varying abilities to prevent or treat diseases particularly cancer.

Unlike vitamins, minerals make up a much larger portion of the body–up to five percent. There are two classifications of minerals. They are the micronutrient elements and the trace elements. The trace minerals are arsenic, chromium, etc. They are needed in minuscule quantities, but are still essential for survival.
The best way to obtain any vitamins and minerals is through food. Taking nutrients in pill form is not ideal. There is obviously a balance between nutrients in whole, fresh, organically grown foods. To get the exact composition right, it is difficult to replicate. Not only is the how and what of the nutrients that comprise our diet essential. But when people try to imitate nature the results, they usually fall short.
