Whether she’s in her 20s or her 60s, every woman wants a healthy, soft skin. But sometimes, maintaining healthy complexion can be a challenge. Here are some easy tips to help you achieve softer skin at any age.
Eat more fish
An unhealthy diet of fast or processed foods and high in sugar will result in a dull, dry, and sometimes acne-riddled complexion. To keep your skin supple and soft, you must have a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, and especially fish – salmon, tilapia, and herring because they are packed with omega-3 fatty acids.
Drink more water
Make sure you have enough fluids in your body, that you’re getting [enough] water through the day. Otherwise, you’re going to look more crinkly, and the skin will be dryer and rougher.
Simple soap and water cannot treat pimples, so if you’re suffering from acne, use medicated washes that contain benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid, and sulfur. But even if you’re not having troubles with acne, it’s vital not to go to bed without washing off your makeup but with a cleanser, not soap. Soap is often too harsh and drying for delicate facial skin so if you have a sensitive complexion, use a cleanser that doesn’t contain sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), a substance that is also used in detergents.
Use your favorite sponge, peel or mask approach to remove flaky and dead cells lingering on. Without a gentle moderated exfoliation, you will not have a soft skin despite all the moisturizers that promise a younger-looking skin.
Try a new moisturizer
Scientists have discovered that it’s not good to use the same moisturizers for years. New types of moisturizing creams and lotions emerged, some of them bio, some of them not. So look for creams containing coffee berry extract, matrixly or ceramide, which is the latest innovation. Use vitamin-infused emollients, for instance a vitamin-C-based cream for the night, because it’s anti-ageing and it peels off some of the upper dead layers of skin that cause dullness and roughness.
Consider a professional cosmetic treatment
Cosmetic industry has evolved in the recent years and now there is also advanced cosmetic procedures, chemical facial peels such as glycolic, salicylic acid, retinoic acid, that gives the skin softness and beauty and even treat some skin issues. Microdermabrasion and some laser-type devices can soften skin as well.
Therefore, remember that even if you can’t change your genetics, you can change how you treat your skin. Focus on what you can do rather than what you and you will obtain the results you long for.
