Are you trying to stay healthy and live longer?
Exercise should be part of your every day. We are procrastinators by nature and believe that we will always go to the gym the next day. The problem is that the “next day“ never comes. Don’t procrastinate! Every day you wait you are letting your body more fragile, and susceptible to aging. But what is the secret you ask me? There is really no secret. Staying healthy it is a difficult journey, takes time, and requires perseverance.
Finding motivation to stay healthy and to live longer
Now that we covered the aspect of not leaving for the next day (procrastination), let’s talk about how to get out the couch and start doing it for real. In order for that to happen you need to find motivation. That means that you need to find a good reason or reasons to achieve the goal of being a healthy being and wanting to live longer. My suggestion is that you ask yourself: “Why I want to stay healthy and live longer“. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. The answer though should be something that is going to keep you attached to your goal, something that weeks, months, and years from today you will remember. Let me give you some examples.
I want to stay healthy and live longer because…
I want to be happy, I want to fit on regular sized clothes, I want to see my kids and grandkids grow up, I want to look good, I want to wake up tomorrow smiling, I want to eat my desert and not blame myself. You have to make your own list, write it down and commit to it.
Start today living longer today!
Don’t procrastinate. Finish reading this article and start your writing down your goals, make small changes each day, and start slow. If you are sedentary, commit initially to walk for 15-20 minutes three times a week. Believe it or not, just this little bit of exercise will have a tremendous impact in your wellbeing. After a couple of weeks, instead of drinking regular soda or beer, try switching to a low calorie drink or diet soda. Go for a light beer or a glass of wine instead.
If you can’t bring yourself to go to the gym because you get too bored and you will sooner or later give up. Look for alternatives. Find something that you like to do and start doing it. Take a walk at the local park or use the stairs instead of the elevator.
Small changes to a long way.
Do not procrastinate. Make gradual changes, commit to small changes, and most important do not give up! These tips will help you begin your journey to being healthy and live longer.
