Those persons who drink alcohol on a regular basis over long periods of time will notice that the more time passes since they last drank alcohol, the worse they will feel. The general symptoms that occur are: nausea, sweating, shaking of fingers and hands, fear, tension.
All these are caused by the fact that the body got used to work with alcohol within its system and when people stop drinking it, its level in the blood drops and thus the body will require more alcohol in order to function properly.
When people reach this stage they will notice that they need more and more alcohol in order to be able to go to work and perform their daily work.
What it is important to know is that there is a cure for all this but it should be taken under the direct surveillance of a qualified doctor because otherwise it can turn really bad.
According to recent researches up to 10%- 15% of the entire population will have at some point a problem related to alcohol.
In what concerns the treatment, the sooner it is started the easier will be for the person following it.
According to the stage the person has reached, the treatment can be divided between specialized interventions and short interventions.
What can be obtained after a short intervention:
– the decrease of the alcohol quantities a person drinks;
– the improvement of family and work relations;
– the improvement of the general health status;
– the awareness that the alcohol is the source of severe problems.
The specialized interventions consist in following a strict psychological and drug based treatment both for the family and for the person in cause.
